More and more often, I’ve been reviewing ARC’s and other books sent to me by authors and publishers.
So, it’s about time for a Review Policy. I’ll try to keep it short and simple – focusing on the things that will make me say no, thank you and what my typical review process is.
First of all, I’d rather not review self-published books. I don’t want to go into the specifics as to why this is the case, but I think it’s fair to let folks know.
If you want me to review a book, use the contact page
Books will only be reviewed later if…
1) I have other books to review that were sent first/have a very near release date.
2) My schedule prohibits it. There’s nothing I can do if my mom has an infinite amount of errands planned or my science teacher drops the science inquiry paper bomb.
Books will be put down and not picked back up if…
1) I’m uncomfortable with the content. Most likely, I’ll be able to tell if a book is too inappropriate for my tastes by the synopsis, but I might be caught off guard.
My usual protocol:
I’ll send an “official review”, which will be between 70 and 110 words (I try to keep them around 85). Below that review will be additional notes. I’ll talk about the things I mentioned in the review a bit more deeply and touch on a few more things.
After that, I’ll post the official review, along with a longer, more detailed review, here and on Goodreads
If you want to add to or eliminate any part of this process, let me know.
Thanks for taking the time to read through this before emailing me!
