Honest Scrap Award!

by Madeleine Rex

Yea! Awards!

Regan, who writes one of my favorite blogs (and, yes, she’s one of my favorite people, darling Regan), has so graciously given me the Honest Scrap Award. Here are the instructions that have been passed along (all the people I’m handing this award to should follow them as well):

Share ten honest things about yourself and pass this lovely gift on to ten other Honest, Upstanding and ‘Scraptastic’ bloggers.”

Onward! (My award posts are terribly choppy reading-wise. I apologize.)

“Ten Honest Things About Myself”:

1 ) I willingly help with laundry at other peoples’ houses, but I absolutely detest the job at mine.

2 ) I have a tendency to take things way too seriously/over-think them. My teachers have been mentioning this at every Parent/Teacher/Student Conference since first grade.

3 ) I go nuts if my bed isn’t made – meaning my entire room has to be clean or I’ll end up in a padded cell.

4 ) I procrastinate. I received this award two weeks ago.

5 ) I am not simply a book snob, but a movie snob. Blu-ray all the way. Hi-def everything. We have a projector and ridiculously large movie screen in our bonus room. I inherited this trait from my father (whom I love).

6 ) I say “I love you” way too much. You’re about to say that this is impossible, but it’s not. I can say “I love you” three times in twenty seconds, and have. My parents laugh at me sometimes.

7 ) I feel guilty/like I’ve disappointed constantly. I’m always feeling guilty.

8 ) I cry really easily.

9 ) I laughed and screamed “Awesome!” at a particularly graphic beheading in the TV-edited version of “Sleepy Hollow” – and I laugh at a lot of the gory stuff. Don’t think I’m a freak, please. I’m not. Promise!

10 ) Before I die, I want to write a book that will keep on living.

Whew! That took a while. Now for other “scraptastic” people!

And, naturally, I can’t find ten. I’m still on the look-out for writing buddies (and two of the people listed are book blogging pals). Most of the people above I know from Twitter, but I linked their blogs because those are amazing, too!

Thanks again to Regan!

My next blog post will either be a book review or on inspiration, so readers and writers, check back soon!

P.S. Winners: I have no idea what “scraptastic” means, and the people I’ve talked to don’t know, either. Interpret for yourselves.

Agent Kristen's blog, Pub Rants

by Madeleine Rex

Pub Rants

As Kristen says herself: “…Pub Rants is shorthand for Publishing Rants. No Irish Pub involved…”

I began reading Pub Rants when I began to read Jamie Ford’s blog (she’s his agent).

The wonderful thing about agent and publishing blogs is that they’re all different. Blogs are a direct connection to the person blogging. You get a nice dose of their personality through their voice in every post.

Kristen is awesome. She’s amusing but knows how to get down to business and get a message across. She’ll keep you all up-to-date on the current gossip and goings-on of the publishing world!

Nathan Bransford's Blog & Forums

by Madeleine Rex

Nathan Bransford – Literary Agent

I’ve been reading Nathan’s blog for a while now, after having seen the link millions of times on the Writer’s Digest Forums. I was curious as to what the huge fuss was about, and was exceedingly pleased to find that his site lives up to the hype.

Nathan masterfully juggles humor and information on publishing, querying, writing in general, etc. I’m absolutely hooked, and once I joined his recently opened forums, I had trouble tearing my eyes away from the computer.

His blog has also been one of Writer’s Digest’s 101 Best Websites for Writers two years in a row, and (all you book bloggers will recognize this one) was also 2009’s Best Publishing Industry Blog for Book Blogger Appreciation Week.

It’s certainly worth a look.
